Will the engraving wear off?

No. Because the lettering is cut deep into the steel with a laser, it can't rub smooth the way a printed or lightly stamped tag does. Through years of rain, mud and the dog bowl, the engraving stays easy to read.

What are the tags made of?

Solid 2mm brushed stainless steel - rust-free, hard-wearing and kind to your dog. Gold, silver, rose gold and our other colours are durable finishes on that same stainless steel, so you get the look you want with the strength of steel underneath.

What should I put on a dog tag? (UK law)

By law, a dog in a public place must wear a tag showing the owner's surname and address; a phone number is well worth adding. You don't have to include your dog's name - many owners leave it off for privacy, and our no-name tags keep you legal while staying discreet.

Which size should I choose?

Small suits toy breeds, puppies and cats; medium fits most dogs; large gives more room to read on a bigger collar. For a slim puppy or cat collar, pick small with the smaller split ring.

Looking after your tag

Barely any effort: wipe it with a damp cloth when it needs it. The stainless steel won't rust, and there's no ink or coating to fade, so it keeps looking sharp.

Frequently asked questions
What is the return policy?

You can return most items within 28 days, as long as they are unused and in original condition with packaging. You also have a 14 day right to cancel for any reason under the Consumer Contracts Regulations.

Email thestudio@thestatelyhound.com before sending anything back. Return postage is your responsibility unless the item is faulty.

How long does delivery take?

We aim to dispatch all orders within 2-3 working days, but this can be longer during peak periods. Delivery time depends on the service you select at checkout, and starts from the day we dispatch.

UK delivery options include Royal Mail 48 and 24 Tracked, plus Next Day. Free UK standard delivery is available on orders over £50. We will email you as soon as your order has been dispatched. For full delivery options and international info, see our Delivery policy.
Do you ship internationally?

Yes. International orders are sent via Royal Mail International Tracked, from £15. Delivery typically takes 7-15 working days after dispatch, and a signature may be required.

International orders are sent DDU (Delivery Duty Unpaid), so local import duties and taxes may be payable on arrival. Please note we currently do not ship to the EU or Northern Ireland.
