What Should I Put on My Dog's ID Name Tag?

What Should I Put on My Dog's ID Name Tag?

If you're unsure what information to put on your dogs id name tag, read on! This handy guide will give you the low down on what's required by UK Law.

OK, so it may be a little outdated as this law was bought in back in 1992 - way before the internet and easily accessible GPS, but it's still pretty relevant.

The Control of Dogs Order 1992 states that 'any dog in a public place should wear the name and address of the owner either inscribed on the collar or a name plate or disc attached to it’.

Here’s a suggested example of what is required on an ID dog tag:

A Barker
52 / PAW 01S
07010 123456 (optional)

OR

A Barker
52 Woof Street
PAW 01S
07010 123456 (optional)

In both examples, your telephone number is optional, but given most of us own a smartphone we would highly recommended it.

Our range of name tags for dogs come in two sizes. On our 1" tag we can fit a maximum of 14 characters per line inc spaces, with no more than 3 lines. And on our 1 1/4" tag we can fit a maximum of 14 characters per line inc spaces, with no more than 4 lines.
