A personalised gold dog tag, deep laser-engraved to order in our Surrey workshop and built for every day on the collar. The warm brushed gold reads beautifully as a name tag against dark fur and dark leather - your pet's name on the front, your ID and contact details on the back, with 28 symbols and 10 fonts to choose from. Made for dogs, puppies and cats alike.

Gold that outlasts brass

This is not brass - deliberately. Each tag is cut from 2mm-thick stainless steel in a warm brushed gold finish: tougher and more hardwearing than solid brass, and it keeps its colour without the tarnish brass develops. The lettering is laser-engraved deep into the metal, never printed or painted, so nothing fades through muddy walks and wet weather. Waterproof, rust-resistant, and light enough that they will forget it is there.

  • Small (20mm, 4g) - the kitten, puppy and toy-breed size
  • Medium (25mm, 5g) - the size most owners pick: spaniels, dachshunds, labradors and larger cats
  • Large (30mm, 6g) - retrievers, shepherds and the bigger breeds

Two stainless steel split rings come with every tag - the smaller for the tag, the larger for your collar's D-ring.

Engrave it your way

Build your tag in the personalisation fields above - try OSCAR with a star, and the preview shows your tag as you type, so there are no surprises when it arrives. Up to 3 lines on the front and 5 on the back for phone numbers and contact details. 28 symbols and 10 font styles, from clean and modern to classic serif. Or keep it minimal - one side blank, or contact details only.

Buy 2 tags and save 15%; 3 or more saves 25% - handy for two-dog households or a spare on the second collar.

What must a dog tag say by UK law?

In a public place your dog's tag should carry the owner's name and address - that is the legal ID requirement. A phone number is optional in law but the first thing that gets a lost dog home, so nearly everyone adds one. A layout that works: name or symbol on the front; surname, house number, street, postcode and phone on the back.

From our Surrey workshop

Engraved to order by our small UK team and checked by hand before it ships - never drop-shipped. Owners rate us 4.9 out of 5 across 200+ reviews. Bailey the cockapoo supervises quality control, mostly from his bed. Got a question, or a long name to squeeze on? Get in touch and you will reach the person who actually makes the tags - fellow dog owners, not a call centre.

Looking after your tag

A damp cloth after muddy, sandy or salty walks is all it needs. Skip bleach and scouring pads, and swap out any split ring that starts to open or stretch - rings wear faster than tags.

Questions

Is it real brass? No - and that is deliberate. It is 2mm stainless steel in a warm gold finish: tougher and more hardwearing than brass, and it keeps its colour without the tarnish brass develops.

Which size should I choose? Medium (25mm) is the pick for most dogs; Small for cats, kittens and toy breeds; Large if you want the address and phone number in bigger lettering.

Will the engraving fade? No - the details are cut into the steel itself. There is no print or paint to wear away.

Will it suit a cat or a puppy? Yes - the Small (20mm, 4g) sits neatly on cat and puppy collars.
