The classic shape, in gold that will not tarnish

Cut from 2mm-thick stainless steel in a brushed gold finish - tougher and harder-wearing than the solid brass it resembles, and it keeps its colour where brass dulls and tarnishes. The lettering is laser-engraved deep into the metal, not printed or painted on top, so there is no ink to fade through wet winters and muddy recalls. Waterproof and rust-resistant, and at 6-8g your dog will not notice it is on.

What to engrave on a dog tag (UK law)

UK rules: in public, your dog should wear the owner's name and address. The law does not demand a phone number, but a mobile is what actually gets a lost dog back the same day. Works well: dog's name or a symbol on the front; surname, house number, street, postcode and phone on the back.

Care

Wipe with a damp cloth after beach days and muddy walks. No bleach, no scouring pads. If a split ring starts to open or stretch, replace it - the ring always wears before the tag does.

Is it real brass? No - deliberately. It is 2mm stainless steel in a warm gold finish: harder-wearing than brass, and it will not tarnish.

Which bone size should I choose? Medium (40 x 21mm) suits most dogs from puppy to adult. Go Large (50 x 29mm) for labradors, retrievers, shepherds and thicker collars.

Will the engraving fade? No - it is cut into the metal itself, so there is no printed surface to wear off.

Do I have to engrave both sides? No - one side, both, or front-only with a symbol. Most put the name on the front and ID details on the back.
