Gromit Unleashed in Bristol

Fancy a bit of dog spotting this weekend? Fans of the stop-motion Aardman films will be pleased to know that from July 1st to September 8th 2013, everybody’s favorite four-legged, albeit animated, friend Gromit has been unleashed on the streets of Bristol, as part of a city-wide tourist attraction.

Wallace’s trusty sidekick and faithful companion is the icon for the Gromit Unleashed trail. These 5ft tall hounds have been placed in various locations throughout Bristol’s city centre. Each sculpture has been decorated by international artists, such as Quentin Blake, Cath Kidson, Paul Smith, Joanna Lumley and One Direction’s Zayn Malik.

Once the trail has finished, each of the 80 sculptures will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal, the Bristol Children’s Hospital Charity. Since its formation in 1995, the charity has raised a whopping £22 million!

“Cracking good job, Gromit!”
